On June 4, 2021, Mikael Owunna led an engaging youth STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) workshop at Maker’s Clubhouse for 12 middle school students from Homewood. During this interactive session, he introduced the students to African cosmologies, providing a cultural and scientific framework that expanded their understanding of the universe. Owunna also shared the creative inspiration behind his acclaimed Infinite Essence series, offering a behind-the-scenes look at his artistic process. The workshop’s highlight was a hands-on activity where students created their own Infinite Essence-inspired artworks under his guidance. This immersive experience fostered creativity, encouraged self-expression, and helped students connect with African cosmology through the dynamic lens of STEAM education.
