Indira Cunningham

Indira is a performing and visual artist native to Atlanta, Georgia; She moved to Pittsburgh to dance with Confluence Ballet Company and has been thankful for opportunities to further her modeling, and performing/visual art career around the city.

Indira received her education from Woodward Academy in College Park, GA, and Ben Franklin Academy in Atlanta, where her work-study program allowed her to accept an apprenticeship with Ballethnic Dance Company and graduate early and with honors in December 2016. At Ben Franklin, she particularly enjoyed her fashion design class, and making her senior prom dress for her final project. After 3 years of studies, Indira graduated from University of Oklahoma in May 2020 as a National Award Scholar and a member of the Honors College with her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, Academic Distinction, and a 4.0 GPA.

Art has always been an integral part of Indira’s life and extracurricular studies; Indira began her dance training at 3 years old at Atlanta Festival Ballet and continued her training at Ballethnic Academy of Dance in East Point, GA. She has had the opportunity to perform throughout the Southeastern United States, and dance with Ballethnic Dance Company, Orlando Ballet, Oklahoma City Ballet, Vitacca Ballet II, Dance Canvas, Confluence Ballet Company, as well as many other films and projects.

Indira is thankful to be a part of the growing art and cultural hub here in Pittsburgh and excited for new artistic opportunities here in the city and beyond. Her recent work has been with Confluence Ballet Company, Staycee Pearl Dance Project, The New Hazlett Theater, The Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, and a recent premiere in “We Shall Not Be Moved,” directed by Bill T Jones with the Pittsburgh Opera. She has teaching affiliations with Hill Dance Academy Theatre, Kelly Strayhorn Theater, and Pittsburgh Musical Theater.
