Vision & Divination: LEAPing into Your Personal Oracle Decks
Oracle Making Workshop
Carnegie Mellon University
Pittsburgh, PA
January 13, 2025
On January 13, 2025, Rainbow Serpent partnered with Carnegie Mellon University’s LEAP (Leadership, Excellence, Access, Persistence) program to host an oracle-making workshop, a hands-on creative session designed to blend personal reflection with artistic expression. Led by writer and diviner Almah LaVon, the workshop invited participants to craft their own mini-oracle decks using cards featuring the art of Mikael Owunna. With guided prompts, students explored themes of intuition, self-discovery, and divination, adding their own messages and insights to the cards. This immersive experience encouraged participants to engage with spiritual and artistic traditions while fostering creativity and self-awareness.
LEAP is an educational program that empowers under-resourced high school students to become agents of social change through storytelling, the arts, and civic engagement. The program provides a year-round supportive learning environment where students are paid to collaborate with local artists, activists, and scholars working toward social transformation. By integrating personal reflection with hands-on artistic experiences, this partnership with LEAP aligned with Rainbow Serpent’s mission to create meaningful, transformative spaces for emerging young leaders to envision and build a better future.
