Africana Wellness Conference

The Legacy Arts Project

March 16, 2024

The Africana Wellness Conference was a transformative retreat celebrating holistic well-being within the African diaspora. Participants immersed themselves in empowering workshops, engaging speakers, and vibrant cultural experiences that nurtured mind, body, and spirit, creating an incredible opportunity to connect, learn, and thrive.

Healer Almah LaVon guided participants through three profound workshops, each designed to deepen their understanding of self and community:

Riding the Rivers of Night

This guided aquatic visualization journey offered relaxation and illumination. Participants delved into the hidden depths of imagination with meditative music and visuals inspired by Khonsu, the Egyptian deity of meditation, trance, and the ocean.

Kiss of Spirit: Courting Insight with DIY Oracle Cards

In this hands-on workshop, participants created their own oracle decks featuring the art of Mikael Owunna. With provided prompts, they uncovered divinatory messages, inviting personal insight and guidance.

Wordcraft as Dreamwork

This workshop explored the fusion of dreaming and writing as a daily Africana wellness practice. Through prompts and exercises, participants learned to integrate these practices into their lives, enriching their spiritual and creative journeys.
